Understand how Wi-Fi and SIM data connect your iK Flyer or iK Flyer Lite, when a SIM is optional and what to check if the connection fails.

Your iK Flyer or iK Flyer Lite can connect to the internet using Wi-Fi or SIM data. An internet connection is needed to take card payments.

What the SIM does

A SIM connects your card machine to a mobile network. The included SIMs use MTN and Vodacom networks and have unlimited data. This can be useful when Wi-Fi is unavailable or when you trade in different locations.

You can use Wi-Fi when it suits your trading environment, or use SIM data when a mobile connection is more practical.

Wi-Fi, SIM data and dual SIM

Both the iK Flyer and iK Flyer Lite support dual-SIM connectivity. This means the machine can support two SIM connections where they are available on your device and iKhokha profile.

Your machine and setup determine which connection options appear. Check the network options available on the card machine before you start trading.

Do I need a SIM?

No. A SIM is optional when you buy an iKhokha card machine. You can use Wi-Fi instead if your trading environment has a reliable connection.

If your machine has no Wi-Fi or SIM connection, it may not be able to take payments until it's back online.

SIM service cost

If your purchase includes SIM service, a monthly charge may apply. Check the charge shown before you add or keep the service.

Use your own SIM

You can use your own SIM or remove the included SIMs and use Wi-Fi only. If you use your own SIM and have connection problems, try another available connection and work through Card machine troubleshooting.

Cancel SIM service

You can cancel SIM service at any time. There is no contract or extra fee. To cancel billing for a machine you are not using, contact iKhokha Support on 087 222 7000 or support@ikhokha.com.

If your connection is not working

  1. Check that the card machine is switched on and has enough power.

  2. Check whether it is connected to Wi-Fi or SIM data.

  3. If you are using Wi-Fi, check that the network is working and that the machine is connected to the correct network.

  4. If you are using SIM data, check the connection indicator and the network option shown on the machine.

  5. Try the connection again.

  6. If the machine still can't connect, see Card machine troubleshooting.

To set up your card machine, see Set up your card machine.
