Take a card payment

Take a card payment from the New sale screen on your iK Flyer or iK Flyer Lite. Card payments must be at least R2.00. Enter an amount or add items, select Charge, then let the customer present their card and follow any PIN prompts.

Check your card machine is ready

Make sure the card machine is switched on, connected to the internet and logged in to the correct linked iKhokha profile. If it is a new machine, complete Set up your card machine first.

Start the sale

1. From the home screen, select New sale.

2. Select Amount and enter the amount, or select Catalogue to add products.

3. Check the total, then select Charge. If you added items, review the cart first.

4. If the machine asks you to choose a payment method, select Card payment.

Sell with the Catalogue and cart

Use the Catalogue to add saved products to a sale. Use Amount when you want to enter custom amounts without selecting catalogue products.

1. Select Catalogue.

2. Choose a product. If it has options, choose them before you select Add to cart.

3. Repeat for each product you are selling.

4. Select Cart to review the items and total.

5. To add or change an item description or quantity, select the item to open Edit item details. Update the item name or quantity, then select Update.

6. To remove one item, open it and select Remove. To remove all items, select Clear cart.

7. Check the total, then select Charge.

To add more than one custom amount without using the Catalogue, select Amount, enter an amount on the keypad, then select + to add another amount. Select Review cart to check the combined total before you select Charge.

To add a reference to the sale, select Add sale details, enter the optional reference in Sale reference, then select Save.

If a tip screen appears

Let the customer choose whether to add a tip. They can choose one of the options shown or select Custom and enter an amount. Check Total after tip, then select Proceed to payment.

Ask the customer to present their card

Follow the prompt on the machine and ask the customer to use an available method:

• iK Flyer: tap, insert or swipe.

• iK Flyer Lite: tap or insert. The iK Flyer Lite does not support swipe.

Keep the machine where the customer can present the card comfortably and enter a PIN privately if the machine asks for one.

Currency choice for some foreign cards

Some eligible foreign-card payments show a currency-choice screen. The customer can choose the displayed converted amount in their home currency or pay in South African rand (ZAR). Let the customer make the choice before continuing. To learn more about the currency-choice screen, see Accept foreign-card payments with DCC.

Complete the payment

1. If Enter PIN appears, hand the machine to the customer so they can enter their PIN, then select Confirm.

2. Wait while the card machine authorises the transaction.

3. Check for Card payment successful before treating the sale as paid.

If the payment is declined or fails, follow the message on the machine and see Why a payment was declined or failed.

Give the customer a receipt

On the successful-payment screen, select Share receipt if the customer wants one, or select Done to finish. The available options depend on the machine:

• iK Flyer: print a receipt or share it by email or QR code.

• iK Flyer Lite: share a digital receipt by email or QR code.

If the customer does not need a receipt, select Done. Always wait for the successful result before handing over goods or closing the sale.
